Men’s Night 8/6 — 1-or-2-Man Scramble on the Front 9
For Men’s Night this week, we’re adding a twist to our scramble format. Competitors may either play solo using the standard 1-Man Scramble format (hitting two shots themselves from each position throughout each hole) or pair up for a traditional 2-Man Scramble (each teammate hits one shot from each position).
1-Man Format: You hit two shots off the tee and choose the best one. From there, you again hit two shots, choose the best, and repeat until the hole is completed.
2-Man Format: Players team up and each teammate hits one shot from every position. Choose the best shot and both players hit from there, continuing until the hole is finished. For 2-Man teams, please mark your scorecard with both players’ names on a single line (e.g. “B. Jones / B. Hogan”) and record your gross scramble score.
Please turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop with gross scramble scores and names clearly marked. Net scores will be calculated using 50% of each player’s Front 9 course handicap, with 50% of the average handicap used for 2-man teams. Low net score wins!
Match Play Next Round Deadline: Sunday, August 30th
Thank you to all the players who completed their matches for the 2026 MGA Match Play Main + Wildcard brackets by yesterday’s deadline. The deadline for our next round of matches is Sunday, August 30th. Please email [email protected] or call the Pro Shop (301) 292-1100 if you need your opponent’s contact information.
If your match has been completed, please make sure the results have been reported to [email protected] so we can update the online brackets.
One important note as matches continue deeper into the season: Match Play is intended for active NGC members through the conclusion of the tournament in October. If your membership plans have changed and you do not expect to remain a member through that time, please let us know and, as a courtesy to the bracket and the remaining players, allow your scheduled opponent in the current round to move forward. We certainly understand that circumstances can change and appreciate everyone’s help keeping the tournament moving along fairly and smoothly.
