2026 MGA Handicap Rules & Procedures

Players,

The 2026 season is here, and the handicap system is now open! We are excited for the upcoming MGA season, and wanted to send out the important handicap related items for this year. We will continue to work hard to protect the integrity of the field for all MGA events. Please continue to reach out with any questions or concerns, and remember that Big Brother is always watching (we see those amazing Men’s Night scores that turn into average 18-hole scores). The 2026 MGA Handicap Rules & Procedures documentation lays out what we expect of all of you.

I will leave the highlights here for simplicity:

  • All MGA members will need a GHIN handicap which can be set up with NGC or by emailing [email protected].
  • MGA members should be posting ALL rounds played while playing postable formats.
  • Players should post their scores whenever playing 9 or more holes, and should do so in a timely manner.
  • We will maintain the 2-in-30 posting requirement for 2026 starting April 15th. To compete in MGA net competitions with your GHIN handicap, players must maintain 36 holes of posted scores (either full 18 or 9-hole scores) from NGC in the last 30 days. See the “Season Specific Guidelines” within the Rules & Procedures.
  • If any MGA Member is unable to meet the 2-in-30 posting requirement for reasons of travel, work, injury, sickness, or the like, they may submit an appeal in writing to the MGA Handicap Committee at [email protected] to request a temporary exemption from the requirement.
  • Penalties will be given out for failure to post.
  • Players should post their own scores for all MGA events after the conclusion of play unless instructed otherwise. MGA tournaments should be entered as tournament/competition scores.
  • The MGA will audit all player handicaps for Men’s Nights and Tournaments. Players who do not follow the posting guidelines or do not meet the 2-in-30 will not be eligible to compete with their GHIN handicaps in net competitions.

If you have any questions about anything, please reach out and we will be happy to assist. Looking forward to another magical MGA season.

-William Keyes

Jack was a long time NGC member and, alongside his wife Maureen who you’ll often see out hitting balls, was a stalwart of our golf club. He was a wonderful friend to all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His interest in his fellow members was sincere, he would make useful suggestions on the practice range, and he had great stories with a tremendously sharp wit.

Saint Patrick’s Day was Jack’s favorite holiday and, to honor him, let’s have a great day of camaraderie and celebration!
