Men’s Night 4/30: 1-Man Scramble — Competition Rules

For Men’s Night this week, we’ll be playing our 1-Man Scramble format on the Front 9. For this format, you get 2 shots off the tee and choose the best one, you then get 2 shots from the next position, choose the best, and so on until you have completed the hole.

Please record gross, individual scramble scores on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop. 50% of Front 9 course handicaps apply to calculate net scores — low net score wins.

Competition Rules for Men’s Night 4/30

  • For this week, all Men’s Night competitors play the Front 9 with our 1-Man Scramble format. 50% of Front 9 course handicaps will be used to calculate net scores. Points Chase points will be awarded to the top one-third of the field.
  • Men’s Night rounds may be played at any time on Thursday with an accompanying MGA member. All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (age + handicap >= 75) may play golds. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in completed cards to the Pro Shop.
  • With the nature of our 1-Man Scramble format, we will be playing lift, clean, and place EVERYWHERE for all shots including within penalty areas, 1-club length, no closer to the hole. RAKE and PLACE for all BUNKERS. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you may lift, clean, rake and place within the bunker, no closer to the hole.
  • Balls marked on the green may be replaced to the side of any “Dollar Spot”, dead patches, “Crabgrass” weed patches, and/or fungus/disease, no closer to the hole. Additionally, “Dollar Spot” areas, dead/diseased patches, or “Crabgrass” weed patches on the green may be considered Ground Under Repair from which putting-line relief may be taken, no closer to the hole. The maximum relief distance for putting green relief is one club-length from the current ball position on the green.
  • Bare areas larger than one club-length in your own fairway (or connected to your own fairway), bare areas immediately adjacent to cart paths, and tire tracks should be considered Ground Under RepairDROP within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. Additionally, netting in re-sodded areas, drain trenches, and exposed rocks added as topper for drainage systems should be considered Ground Under Repair from which free relief may be taken, no closer to the hole.
  • Tall grass and unmaintained sections of the course may be played as penalty areas. These areas include: the hill between the cart paths for the 4th and 5th holes, right of the 7th hole fairway, the hill between the 7th and 8th holes, surrounding the back and left of the 11th green, right of the 13th fairway and surrounding the 13th green, right of the cart path on the 14th hole, on the hill between the 14th and 16th holes, right of the 15th hole and surrounding the 15th green. In the case you do not find your ball in these areas, follow the standard red penalty area dropping procedure.
  • Any player who does not meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting policy or has not submitted a written appeal for exemption prior to play to [email protected] if they are unable to meet the requirement, will automatically play as a 0 handicap for Men’s Night.
  • This week’s 1-Man Scramble format is NOT valid for handicap posting purposes.

For Men’s Night this week, our Tee Ladder format is back. We’ll be playing the Back 9 and here’s how it works:

All players start on the Red Tees for Hole #10. If you make a gross par or better on a hole, you move up the tee ladder for the next hole:

If you make a gross bogey or worse, you reset and return to the Red Tees for the next hole.

Progression Example:

Masters Men’s Night: Play anytime on Thursday, April 9th
Champions Dinner: Buffet starting at 5:45 PM

Masters Men’s Night — Par 3s & Par 5s

For this week’s golf format, we’ll be taking on a Masters-themed extravaganza on the Back 9, combining the spirit of the traditional Masters Par 3 Contest with a mix of Par 5s and a little Drive, Skip & Putt magic to boot. Stay tuned for the full format reveal tomorrow!

Our MGA Tees have been placed on the Back 9 for our full Par 3s & Par 5s setup. Net and Gross leaderboards will be in play with 75% of Back 9 handicaps for net scoring.

#10 – Ceremonial Tee Shot Challenge Par 3

  • All players will begin on #10 with a ceremonial tee shot that has real implications. If your tee shot finishes in the fairway and is within (less than) your age + 100 yards of the flagstick on #10 green, you will earn the right to play #10 as a par 3 from the MGA tees at 110 yards. If you do not complete the challenge, you will play #10 as a par 3 from the MGA tees at 140 yards. Rule of 75 players may hit their ceremonial challenge tee shot from gold tees on #10 but will play the MGA tees for the remainder of the round.

#11 – Par 3

  • #11 will be played as a par 3 from 155 yards — same yardage as some other famous par 3...

#12 – Skip Challenge Par 3

  • At #12, each player will have 4 chances from the designated skip zone (large zone anywhere between the double MGA tees) to skip a ball onto the green. If you successfully hit the green, you will play #12 as a par 3 from the MGA tees at 75 yards. If not, you will play #12 from the MGA tees 125 yards.

#13 – Par 5

  • #13 will be played as a par 5, just as nature — and Augusta — intended.

#14 – Par 3

  • #14 will be played as a par 3 from the #15 gold tee. 38 yards

#15 – Par 3

  • #15 will be played as a par 3 from the #15 gold tee. 71 yards

#16 – Par 5

  • #16 will be played as a par 5 from the #15 gold tee (the same MGA tees #14 was played from as a par 3). An even 13ier #13?!

#17 – Par 3 + Putt Challenge for 18 Tee Shot Determination

  • #17 will be played as a par 3 from 143 yards. After finishing the hole, each player will attempt a challenge putt to determine which tee they will play from on #18. Each player may place their ball anywhere exactly one flagstick length from the hole. Make the putt, and you’ll play #18 from the forward tee. Miss it, and you’ll play the longer tee shot on #18.

#18 – Final Tee of Destiny

  • If you complete the challenge putt on #17, you will earn the right to play #18 as a par 3 from MGA tees on the forward tee — 117 yards. If not, you will play #18 from the MGA tees on blue tee box — 161 yards.

Competition Rules for Masters Men’s Night 4/9

  • For this week, all Men’s Night competitors play the Par 3s & Par 5s setup on the Back 9 using 75% of their Back 9 course handicaps. Points Chase points will be awarded to the top one-third of the field with both Net and Gross leaderboards.
  • Men’s Night rounds may be played at any time on Thursday with an accompanying MGA member. All players play from the MGA tees. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in completed cards to the Pro Shop.
  • We will be playing LIFT, CLEAN, and PLACE in your OWN FAIRWAY, one club-length, no closer to the hole. RAKE and PLACE for all BUNKERS. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you may lift, clean, rake and place within the bunker, no closer to the hole.
  • Balls marked on the green may be replaced to the side of any aeration holes, “Dollar Spot”, dead patches, “Crabgrass” weed patches, and/or fungus/disease, no closer to the hole.
