Players,
I am excited to join the MGA Board as the Handicap Chair. With the handicap system reopening for Maryland tomorrow, March 15th, I wanted to send a quick note out in anticipation of the upcoming MGA season. Those of you who know me know that I was living in North Carolina the past 2 years, and while I was treated to some amazing golf, my time away helped me realize just how amazing the MGA and NGC is. I am really excited to get the 2022 season underway.
The only thing I want to say is that we are going to work hard to protect the integrity of the field this year. Attached you’ll find the 2022 MGA Handicap Rules & Procedures documentation which lays out what we expect of all of you as well as a NGC Local Rules guidance outline for non-tournament, daily play to help answer any questions.
I will leave the highlights here for simplicity:
- All members should be posting all rounds played, and should be playing postable formats whenever playing.
- Players should post both 9 and 18 hole scores, and should do so in a timely manner.
- We will maintain last year’s 2-in-30 requirement starting April 14th. See the “Season Specific Guidelines” within the Rules & Procedures.
- Penalties will be given out for failure to post.
- Players should post their own scores for all MGA events after the conclusion of play. MGA tournaments should be entered as tournament/competition scores.
- The MGA Committee will audit player handicaps before Men’s Nights and Tournaments. Players who break any of our rules, or do not meet the 2-in-30 will not be eligible to compete in NET competitions.
