As the weather continues to get warmer, we know that everyone is excited for the season to officially begin. Our 1st Men’s Night is scheduled for Thursday, April 7th and this coincides with the 1st Round of the 2022 Masters.
To celebrate this glorious timing, not only will we be having our traditional Masters themed Men’s Night format, we’ll also be serving a “Champions Dinner” (appetizer buffet) from 4:00-7:00 for everyone to enjoy after their Men’s Night rounds. We’ll have all the 2021 MGA Champions trophies to hand out that night so we hope to have a great turn out!
We’d like to send out a huge thank you to all the members who came out today to help with our Green for the Greens course maintenance and cleanup initiative! As a group, we were able to spread over 125 gallons of sand into divots throughout the course. A special thanks goes out to Leo Goff, Dave Rapp and Ron Turner who skipped playing altogether just to facilitate the efforts — kudos to you gentlemen! Also, a big thank you goes to Chef Lois for her delicious Corned Beef meal and to all the NGC Staff who truly make our home course feel like a home away from home.
We hope the course itself was the biggest winner for today but we also have some credit book prizes to give out!
Closest to the Pins #3 – Jim Prendergast (13’10”) – $30 #6 – Seth Barradas (13’2″) – $30 #15 – Weston Happ (8’7″) – $30 #18 – Andrew Neill (5’3″) – $30
E9 Long Drive on #1 Dave Krukowski (297 yards) – $30
E9 Winners: -9 on the Front 9 Jim Sussmann – $30 Jim Prendergast – $30 Mike Helmer – $30 Weston Happ – $30 Dave Krukowski – $30
Thank you again to everyone who made today a great success and here’s to an awesome 2022 season!
The Green for the Greens maintenance and cleanup initiative is on for today. All MGA and NGC members are invited to wear their green, come out to the course to play some golf, help fill some divots, fix some ball marks, win some prizes, and enjoy some delicious food. Chef Lois’s Corned Beef & Cabbage will be available for all and it’s only $10 for those participating in the cleanup.
Buckets of sand will be provided (we could use a few extra empty buckets if you have a spare) and free carts will be available for those filling divots.
While you golf, if every player could fix 5 ball marks per green, we’d be looking good out there!
The MGA will be giving out credit book prizes for closest to the pins on all par 3s and we’ll get everyone together at 2:30 PM for some E9 (group scramble) fun with a long drive contest to kickoff the festivities!
Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 19th with a Course Maintenance Extravaganza!
With rain in the forecast for Thursday, the Green for the Greens course maintenance has been moved to Saturday, March 19th. We invite all MGA and NGC members to come out to the course this Saturday to play some golf, help fill some divots, fix some ball marks, win some prizes and enjoy some delicious food. Chef Lois has moved her Corned Beef & Cabbage dinner in conjunction and will be available for all on Saturday the 19th.
The MGA will be giving out credit book prizes and we’ll try to get everyone together at 3:00 PM for some E9 (group scramble) fun!
Unfortunately, although we were informed by our departed GM that we were “all set” for Spring A-Team, he did not actually submit the entry form and fee. As a result, the MSGA bracket was drawn without our entry and we will be unable to participate as a club. We hope that this is the final failure in a truly unbelievable reign of incompetence.
Despite this disappointment, we are extremely excited for the new beginning we now have at the club. Let’s have a great 2022 season!
I am excited to join the MGA Board as the Handicap Chair. With the handicap system reopening for Maryland tomorrow, March 15th, I wanted to send a quick note out in anticipation of the upcoming MGA season. Those of you who know me know that I was living in North Carolina the past 2 years, and while I was treated to some amazing golf, my time away helped me realize just how amazing the MGA and NGC is. I am really excited to get the 2022 season underway.
The only thing I want to say is that we are going to work hard to protect the integrity of the field this year. Attached you’ll find the 2022 MGA Handicap Rules & Procedures documentation which lays out what we expect of all of you as well as a NGC Local Rules guidance outline for non-tournament, daily play to help answer any questions.
I will leave the highlights here for simplicity:
All members should be posting all rounds played, and should be playing postable formats whenever playing.
Players should post both 9 and 18 hole scores, and should do so in a timely manner.
We will maintain last year’s 2-in-30 requirement starting April 14th. See the “Season Specific Guidelines” within the Rules & Procedures.
Penalties will be given out for failure to post.
Players should post their own scores for all MGA events after the conclusion of play. MGA tournaments should be entered as tournament/competition scores.
The MGA Committee will audit player handicaps before Men’s Nights and Tournaments. Players who break any of our rules, or do not meet the 2-in-30 will not be eligible to compete in NET competitions.
If you have any questions about anything, please reach out and we will be happy to assist. Looking forward to another magical MGA season.

We’d like to say one more huge thank you to Janelle Cash whose last day at the club was yesterday. It was great to see everyone out last night to wish her all the best in her new endeavors. We are not sure where we’d be without her help, thoughtfulness, and professionalism over the last year. The MGA and all NGC members will certainly miss you but we all couldn’t be happier for you as you move forward with your next chapter!
Thank you again for all you’ve done for NGC and please come visit us often —

On behalf of the Men’s Golf Association (MGA) at National Golf Club, we’d like to invite you to join the MGA for the upcoming 2022 season. Our $85 yearly membership dues (to be billed March 31st by the club), allow the MGA to conduct organized golf and golf-related social activities for the benefit, pleasure, and recreation of all MGA members with 100% of all dues collected spent at NGC for our events. Our yearly dues also let us pay out 100% of all tournament entry fees back in credit book prizes to the field for each event. Last year, we had over 70 NGC members participate in MGA sponsored events. This year, we hope to make it 100+! With the new direction of the club, we are excited for an exceptional 2022 MGA season.
Starting in April and running through October, the MGA will host eight weekend tournaments as well as a season-long Match Play bracket. Our tournaments include prizes and food & beverages. While MGA tournaments are generally on weekends, they are open to full as well as weekday members. In addition to weekend tournaments, we conduct a robust program of 30 Men’s Nights held every Thursday and, for 2022, we hope to include dinner specials for participating MGA members and their guests. We are also looking at ways to be more inclusive of our senior golfers with special events being planned for this year.
The MGA is here to enhance your experience at NGC and we are open to more suggestions on sponsored golf or social events. For additional information, questions, or to join our MGA email list for the latest tournament and event updates, send a note to [email protected] —
We hope to make this the best year ever at NGC and hope that you will join the MGA!
Sincerely,
– Your 2022 MGA Board
