Men’s Night 9/5 — 1-Man Scramble with White/Red Dilemma on the Back 9
For Men’s Night this week, we’ll be playing our 1-Man Scramble format with one additional twist. For all tee shots, players may either:
Play from White Tees, hitting 2 tee shots and selecting the best one
Or play from Red Tees and only have one tee shot that must be used
This choice (2 tee shots / choose best off White or 1 must-use tee shot off Red) is in play on each hole and you may make a different decision on each hole. Choose wisely!
All 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. shots follow our traditional 1-Man Scramble format — 2 shots from the next position, choose the best, and so on until you have completed the hole. 50% of Back 9 course handicaps apply to calculate net scores — low net score wins.

The 2024 edition of the NGC Cup is in the history books and we are certain it is one that will be remembered for years to come. Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to make it an absolutely epic day! Our love of golf as a golf family is what NGC is all about and yesterday truly showed that. Thank you to all the pro shop, clubhouse and course staff who helped make yesterday amazing. And the biggest thank you to Joe for navigating the intricacies of MD state liquor law and Alisha for bringing the absolutely incredible energy, Songbyrd crew, and setup that made the 2024 edition our best NGC Cup ever.
The generosity and giving spirit of all our members was on full display with both the mountain of donated refreshments that brought to life the MGA BYO bar and with the cash tips for charity! In the end, we were able to collect and donate $525 directly to the Lapan Sunshine Foundation.
When it came to the golf, excitement and good vibes energized each match as players wrapped their minds around Pinehurst Scotch (while enjoying scotch?) and every hole counted towards the final Blue vs. Green tally. When all the points had been counted, Team Green reigned supreme with a final score of 109.5 to 124.5 — Green has earned its place in the NGC Cup color battle!
In the side-contests, laughs and cheers abounded! Mr. Hanpeter got us off to an electric start with a perfect cluster putt, the necessity of walkie-talkies was revealed, and a Truck Bed chip-in joined the ranks of NGC legend.
Cluster Putt Champion – Mike Hanpeter – $50 #10 Knockout Shootout Champion – DJ Low Japan – $100 #10 Knockout Shootout Runner-Up – Leo Goff – $30 #10 Knockout Shootout Runner-Up – Nathaniel Burgess – $30 #10 Knockout Shootout Runner-Up – James Hsiao – $30 Truck Chip Victor + Hole out bonus – James Hsiao – $75 Closest to the Pin #3 – Matt Nolan (11’7″) – $50 Closest to the Pin #6 – Sam Bowmer (1’11”) – $50 Closest to the Pin #15 – Kevin Gates (10’2″) – $50 Closest to the Pin #18 – Clay Thatcher (12’3″) – $50 Long Drive – Jared Powell – $50 Golf Ball Easter Egg Discoverer – Brad Adams – $50
Thank you to Vivianne, Rahel and everyone for the awesome photos!
We are now just 24 hours away from what all indicators say should be the most epic NGC Cup on record! Attached you’ll find the Format + Rules sheet for tomorrow which includes matches and starting holes. For our 2024 format, each group will be playing 6 holes of team Best Ball, 6 holes of team Pinehurst Scotch (Modified Alternate Shot), and 6 holes of team Scramble to finish. Additional side-contests will be set up for during the round and for the After Party.
For all those bringing libation “donations” for drink tickets in the morning, the bar will be in position and a beverage drop-off truck will be set up. Let’s have a fantastic day and show the true spirit that NGC is all about. The After Party will commence immediately following golf around 2:00 PM.
NGC will have their outdoor grill running from 12-5:00 for anyone who would like to order food. The regular kitchen menu will also be available.
If possible, please wear your team color proudly. Let’s have a legendary 2024 Blue vs. Green battle!
