For Men’s Night this week, the 3rd edition of the 2023 Shootout series is here! For our Shootout format on the Back 9, all players meet on the 10th tee at 4:45 PM — please be a few minutes early (around the range / putting green by 4:30 PM) so we can organize everyone’s Back 9 course handicaps.
As a full group (think 25-some), all competitors play #10 together (please mark your ball). The low 9 net scores on #10 progress to the 11th tee. A chip-off will be used to break any ties for who proceeds to #11 (top 9 low net from #10).
On holes 11-18, we eliminate 1 player with the highest net score on each hole: i.e. 9 competitors play #11, 8 competitors play #12…all the the way down to 2 players on the 18th hole. Chip-offs decide tied-for-high-score holes.
The last man standing after #18 has been played is the Shootout winner.

For Men’s Night this week, we’ll be playing our Chicago format on the Front 9. All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (age + handicap >= 75) may play golds. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop. Chicago Format:
Players start with a negative number of points (based on 18-hole course handicaps) then add positive points during their round. The idea is to get from the negative to the positive, clearing your “hurdle” by as many points as possible.
During the round, positive points are added on the following basis using gross hole scores:
Double Bogey or worse = 0 points
Bogey = 1 point
Par = 2 points
Birdie = 4 points
Eagle = 8 points
Albatross = 16 points

Over the weekend, the NGC A-Team played their WMGA summer A-Team matches both home and away. It was awesome to see all our members out to watch and support the home team at NGC! On Saturday, NGC battled hard to gain 7 points in a 7-11 final tally vs. GC at South River. On Sunday, once again the matches were tight and, in the end, 7.5-10.5 was the final result vs. Manor CC.
Men’s Night 7/13 — Stableford Back 9
For Men’s Night this week, hopefully we’ll have a little more success with the weather and we’ll be playing our Stableford format on the Back 9. Points will be awarded based on the standard Stableford scoring breakdown using 100% of individual Back 9 handicaps.
Net Double Bogey or higher: 0 points
Net Bogey: 1 point
Net Par: 2 points
Net Birdie: 3 points
Net Eagle: 4 points, and so on.
