Thank you to all the teams that came out on Saturday for the 2024 edition of our 2-Man Team Shamble for a day of the true camaraderie that the MGA is all about. Despite the dry conditions, birdies, eagles, and albatrosses flew and we saw a great competition right down to the very last shots.
In the net division, some great scoring overall was topped by a very impressive net 53 (-19) by the team of Shane Rutherford & Ryan Dierker. Well played gentlemen!
In the gross division, with a birdie on their closing hole of the day, the team of Sam Bowmer & Scott Redmond carded a clean 62 (-10) to take home the victory!

Thank you to Donnee, Tiffany, Lauren, Rahel, Christine, and all the NGC staff for being the heartbeat of the club we all truly love. Happy 4th of July week to all! 🇺🇸
RWB Results
Over the course of the weekend, we had the chance to play each hole from the red tees (odd numbered holes on Saturday and even numbered holes on Sunday) and, from all reports, some new areas of course were explored while some very good scores were recorded. In the end, even scorching feels-like temps and a burst water main on #7 couldn’t slow down our 2024 Champions.
In the Net Division, Logan Schultz recorded two stellar rounds and finished at -15 net to edge out Hassan El-Amin who finished 2nd at -13 and Micah Busbee who finished 3rd at -11. Well played Logan!
On the Gross Division side, Adam Miller put on a dominating performance finishing as the only player in red figures at 5-under par and winning by 6 shots overall. With clutch up-and-down on #15, an eagle 3 on #16, and two solid pars to finish the day, Mr. Miller closed the door on Clay Thatcher and James Hsiao who both shot under par rounds on Sunday to finish tied 2nd at +1 for the tournament.
Great playing and congrats to our 2024 RWB Champions, Logan Schultz and Adam Miller!
Handicap Posting + Tournament Charges & Credit Book
We ask that all players post their own tournament scores to the GHIN handicap system as “Competition” scores with GOLD TEES as the selected tee box. All postings will be double checked this week and corrected if necessary by the club.
All cart fees from Saturday & Sunday have been added to participant accounts and our $30 tournament entry fee + credit book distributions will be added next week when our MGA master accountant Pete is back in the shop!
2024 RWB Photos
Thank you to our MGA photographers extraordinaire, Rahel and Chuck for the awesome photos! All of Chuck’s RWB photos can be found here.
Thank you to all matches who have played and reported their results. If you do not see your match result listed in the updated online bracket, please let us know the result via email.

Our 2024 edition of the Memorial Cup is in the books and, despite the rain on Saturday, we had an outstanding tournament. We’d like to send out a huge thank you to all the maintenance staff, Matt Doherty, and Jim Sussmann for their tremendous efforts squeegeeing the greens on Saturday morning so we could play! Thank you to Donnee for always being there with the whistle to keep us organized, Lauren for keeping the beverage cart rolling, Terry for marking the course, Chuck Roster for the awesome photos, Silas Nichols for the post-tourney fun, and NGC for the hospitality at our home away from home. And thank you to all our MGA members, especially those playing in their first major at the club!
Finally and most importantly, thank you to all our service women and men who gave their lives for this country. It is their sacrifice that allows us to hold tournaments like the Memorial Cup at the golf club we all love — we are all truly thankful.
Memorial Cup Results
On the course, we saw some great golf played and the good and bad shots alike were surrounded with great camaraderie.
In the net division, playing in the final net group, new MGA member Brad Adams took home the victory shooting an absolutely stellar 2nd round (gross 74) to finish the week -7 net. Congrats and great playing Brad!
And, in the gross division, Clay Thatcher separated himself from the field with a tremendous 2nd round, closing with a 2-under 70 to finish at -1 for the tournament. A truly deserving champion — well played Clay!
Men’s Night 5/2 Results — Choose Your Own Adventure RWB on the Front 9
For the first Men’s Night of May, the temperature was turned up and we had a fantastic turnout of 42 players who all took their chance at the best possible RWB routing on the Front 9. When all the strokes had been counted, one man stood atop the leaderboard with an impressive net 31. Well played to Bruce Sedlak on capturing this week’s Choose Your Own RWB victory!
We now have a 2 week consecutive streak of poker games played, let’s keep the momentum rolling. In the end, we obtained proof of concept for a “bomb pot” and Susan Dick re-raised Donnee with the line of the night!

A huge thank you goes out to Tiffany, Pete, Rahel, Tsehaye, Christine, Mimi, and all the NGC staff who made the day a tremendous success. Also, we’d like to give a big shout-out to all our new members who were competing in their first MGA event. Here’s to a fantastic season of competition and camaraderie to come!
When it came to the golf, we saw some great scores and hopefully everyone enjoyed a well executed mulligan or two! In the end, with a stellar 7-under 65 which included an eagle on #17, Royce Huffaker captured victory in the gross division. And, in the net division, with a fantastic round that included 6 birdies and 7 mulligans left unused, Viktor Grinev took home the win with a net 53. Well played gentlemen!
With Scottie slipping on the Green Jacket last night, one of the best golf weeks of the year is in the books. We’d like to, once again, say thank you to all our MGA members who came out on Thursday for our Masters Men’s Night and Champions Dinner as well as to all the MGAers who took part in the spring A-Team matches. On Saturday, the NGC A-Team took to the links both home and away to battle Turf Valley (and the wind!) in the second round of the MSGA State Team Championship. In the end, NGC did not advance out of the round of 32 but collected 6.5 hard fought points. Having proven that we have a lineup that can win matches, we’re very excited for what the summer WMGA A-Team Matches have in store! Look for the next round of A-Team qualifying starting in June.

The Rule of 75 (Age + Handicap >= 75) applies for gold tee players. Please sign up using the online registration link. All participants must meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting policy.

If you do not have a GHIN account, let us know at [email protected] and we’ll help you get one set up with the club. Starting today, April 15th, we will maintain our 2-in-30 posting requirement for 2024. To compete in MGA net competitions with your GHIN handicap, players must maintain 36-holes of posted scores (either full 18 or 9-hole scores) from NGC in the last 30 days.
