17 players came out last Thursday for a Stableford battle on the Back 9. When all the points had been tallied, two men rose to the top of the leaderboard with 20 Stableford points each. Well played to Sam Bowmer and Chuck Roster on the shared 1st place honors!
Our 2025 edition of the NGC Cup was played over the weekend and we had an awesome day of competition and camaraderie. Thank you to all our MGA members who came out and to the NGC staff who made the day great. Thank you to Joe and Alisha for the musical vibes and to all those who stayed around for the bonus golf and the NGC tradition unlike any other, the E9!
In the end, Team Blue put on an outstanding overall performance and captured the victory. Well played to Team Blue on a day that showed what NGC is truly all about for all of us.
22 teams came out on Saturday for some Shamble camaraderie and competition and, once again, team golf (and premium tee shots!) proved to be as fun as it gets, with birdies, eagles, and even a net albatross lighting up the scorecards.
In the end, one team rose to the top of the Net Division with a tremendous -15 score of 57. Very well played to the dynamic duo of Hi Low Bingo — Jack Sullivan & Brad Adams!
In the Gross Division, two teams carded matching 6-under 66s to share 1st place honors. Congrats to Dorkless — Matt Doherty & Calvin Harkless — and Actually… — Patrick Escalambre & Weston Happ!
And a special thank you to Donnee, who recently announced his retirement but will still be around for tournaments through the rest of 2025. We are all incredibly grateful for all his many years of dedication to the club — thank you, Donnee! More to come soon on a well-deserved day of celebration in his honor.
On Saturday, the NGC A-Team played matches both home and away vs. Breton Bay. After a tough battle, the team was unable to advance out of the Group 8 pool but we’d like to send a thank you to all those who came out to support during the matches!
Men’s Night 7/17 — Chicago Back 9
For Men’s Night this week, we’ll be playing our Chicago format on the Back 9. All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (age + handicap >= 75) may play golds. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop.
Chicago Format: Players start with a negative number of points (based on 18-hole course handicaps) then add positive points during their round. The idea is to get from the negative to the positive, clearing your “hurdle” by as many points as possible.

After a hard fought loss on Saturday 6.5-11.5 vs. Swan point, the team rebounded to capture a decisive victory on Sunday 16-2 vs. Hawthorne. At 1-1 in the group, this coming Saturday’s match vs. Breton Bay will determine if the A-Team moves on to the Round of 8 single elimination matches.
Men’s Night 7/10 — 1-or-2-Man Scramble on the Front 9
For Men’s Night this week, we’re adding a twist to our scramble format to continue July’s theme of team golf. Competitors may either play solo using the standard 1-Man Scramble format (hitting two shots themselves from each position throughout each hole) or pair up for a traditional 2-Man Scramble (each teammate hits one shot from each position).
1-Man Format: You hit two shots off the tee and choose the best one. From there, you again hit two shots, choose the best, and repeat until the hole is completed.
2-Man Format: Players team up and each teammate hits one shot from every position. Choose the best shot and both players hit from there, continuing until the hole is finished. For 2-Man teams, please mark your scorecard with both players’ names on a single line (e.g. “B. Jones / B. Hogan”) and record your gross scramble score.
Please turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop with gross scramble scores and names clearly marked. Net scores will be calculated using 50% of each player’s Front 9 course handicap, with 50% of the average handicap used for 2-man teams. Low net score wins!

The 2025 edition of the Memorial Cup is in the books! Before we get to the results, a heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who helped make the weekend a success. Thank you to Tiffany, Mark, Donnee, Terry, Pete, and the entire golf staff for keeping things running smoothly from start to finish. Huge thanks to Yohannes and the grounds crew for navigating a tough weather week and still managing to get the greens cut early Saturday morning. Shoutout to our new fleet of golf carts—every group stayed fully powered all weekend, by all reports! Thank you to all our MGA players, especially our newest members who made this their first weekend tournament.
And above all, we offer our deepest gratitude to the servicewomen and men who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage and dedication are the reason we’re able to enjoy weekends like this one—together, on the course for the Memorial Cup.
When it came to the golf, we saw some great play in both the Gross and Net divisions and, when all was said and done, two very worthy champions emerged. In the Net division, with a very impressive Sunday round of gross 77, Chuck Roster captured victory at a final tally of -5 net. And on the Gross side of the leaderboard, Kyle Armstrong sealed the deal on the final hole to take the well deserved W. Very well played to both our 2025 Memorial Cup Champions!
