Over the weekend, we had an awesome turnout for the 2025 edition of the NGC Turkey Shootout. A huge thank you goes out to all our staff, members, and guests who made the day a great success! Thank you to Tiffany, Meilani, Ryan, Christine, Mimi, Germame, and all the pro shop, F&B, and grounds crew for all their energy and hard work. We are truly thankful for the joy we are all able to share at our little club where our golf family comes together for some of our best days of the year.
Out on the course, we saw some great play and it was very tight across both the net and gross leaderboards! In the end, the dynamic duo of MV Players—Vicki Smith & Monica Gonzales—not only captured the ladies division victory but also claimed the overall net win — tremendously well played ladies! And, in the gross competition, two teams got into the house at -3 to share to share the W — congrats to the teams of Grip it and (Flip) Flop it!—Jim Prendergast & Brad Adams— and Back for Seconds —Weston Happ & Calvin Harkless.
A Tremendous Year of MGA Competition and Camaraderie
First and foremost, we want to thank all of our MGA members for their outstanding participation and dedication this season. We had 92 MGA members take part over the course of 9 tournaments and 31 Men’s Nights for a grand total of 1,358 MGA rounds played!
It is the competitive spirit between—and the camaraderie amongst—our members that make this group and our club truly special. Our Champions Dinner for the 2025 season will be held in the spring in conjunction with the start of the 2026 season and we are already looking forward to next year! Is it Masters Men’s Night yet?
🏆 2025 MGA Points Chase Champion — Mr. Chuck Roster
As the sun sets on an unforgettable 2025 MGA season, one storyline rises above the rest: the remarkable comeback and year-long consistency of Chuck Roster, our 2025 MGA Points Chase Champion.
After missing the previous season due to injury and major shoulder surgery, Chuck began the year unsure if he’d ever return to form—let alone contend. What followed was one of the most inspiring runs in recent MGA history. From mid-summer momentum to clutch tournament finishes, Chuck’s season was defined not just by great golf, but by grit and gratitude.
In true MGA fashion, Chuck’s humility, humor, and honesty shine through in his Champion’s Spotlight. Huge thanks to Chuck for sharing the responses below, offering an insider’s look at his fantastic 2025 season!
Champion’s Spotlight Q&A
After sitting out last year with injury and surgery, when did it finally feel like you were back this season?
Probably not until mid-summer. I began the year thinking my golfing days were over. Actually tried learning to play one-handed (that was ugly). I had a number of setbacks, but my game felt pretty good by July. Started to fall apart again with injuries late in the season, but my summer run gave me a little buffer.
What was the most memorable shot, hole, or moment from your exceptional 2025 MGA season? Day #2, Memorial Cup, Last few holes. I was having a pretty good round after a not so great Round#1. Coming off of 15, one of the guys asked what my handicap was. Thinking they thought I was a sandbagger, I tried to explain that I was just coming back from 15 months off. When they hinted that I was in the lead, I kinda fell apart (had never even been on a leader board before). Erik Rosales and Co. talked me off the ledge, calmed me down over the last three holes and helped me hang on. Which tournament win or major meant the most to you—and why?
They were all very unexpected and special. Favorite Men’s Night format? Hands down, The Shootout! It’s like the Wild, Wild West! I don’t know of any other club that would let 25 golfers play the same hole at once!
Favorite club in your bag?
54° wedge. It helped me get up and down a lot when I didn’t get on in regulation. Who pushed you the hardest in the Points Chase race or in tournament competition this year?
Without a doubt, Leo Goff! I had very difficult shoulder surgery recovery last year, and was in a dark place. He checked in on me often, brought me food, and got me over to his place multiple times (even when I didn’t feel up to it). Early in the year, he pushed me to get on his simulator. He sacrificed his own playing time to go on the course with just a few clubs with me. And he didn’t let up on me all year! Without Leo’s friendship and help, I would likely not have been able to play, let alone compete.
What part of your game felt the sharpest this season? Short game around the greens. Injuries gave me a lot of time to work on it. It took a lot of pressure off of the rest of my game.
What’s one thing people might not know about your mindset on the course? I actually have two that I worked hard on: One was gratitude. Just being grateful to be playing at all (and with a bunch of very cool golfers!). Second was to be ok with less than perfect. I gave each shot one of four labels: a. Good swing/good result. b. Good swing/bad result. c. Bad swing/good result. d. Bad swing/bad result. This allowed me to be satisfied with 75% of my shots.
Will you enjoy a celebratory beverage from the Points Chase trophy—and what’s going in it? I guess so…I haven’t given it much thought. Open to suggestions. What pairs well with NSAIDS?
What advice would you give to next year’s Points Chase contenders?
I’m not good enough to give anyone golf advice, but what helped me was spending a ton of time working on my short game.
Last weekend marked the final MGA competitive round of the 2025 season with the Wildcard Match Play Championship, where, in fitting fashion, the showdown between Joseph Reid and Torey Diggs went the full distance and was decided on the 18th hole. In the end, Mr. Reid edged out Mr. Diggs, 1-up, to capture the Wildcard title.
Just a few weeks earlier, on Sunday, October 19th, the Main Bracket Final saw Dave Capps face off against Leo Goff in a thrilling back-and-forth battle that also came down to the 18th. Mr. Capps emerged victorious, 1-up, to claim the 2025 Match Play Championship.
Congratulations to both of our champions, and thank you to all who took part in another tremendous year of head-to-head match play competition!
Over the weekend, we had a tremendous day to close out our 2025 MGA season. The weather couldn’t have been better for the first day of November, and we we wrapped things up with a great Member Appreciation Afterparty thanks to the club!
Huge thanks to Mimi, Germame, and the entire NGC staff for making the day special — the food and drinks were outstanding, and the raffle added just the right touch of friendly gambling excitement to the celebration. It’s days like Saturday, and the people who make them special, that mean a great deal to all of us who call NGC home.
On the course, our Stableford showdown brought out some excellent golf and scores across the board. In the end, two players rose to the top — Daryl Stone took home the Net victory, and Sam Bowmer captured the Gross title.
Congrats to both of our Closing Day Stableford Champions, and thanks to everyone who made this such a great way to wrap up another fantastic MGA season!
Thank You Donnee and All for a Weekend to Remember!
Over the weekend, we had tremendous weather and an even better celebration of a true NGC legend — our Referee-in-Chief, Mr. Donnee Gray. It was a perfect day to honor someone who has given so much to the club over the years — his humor, his steady hand, and his genuine care for the game and our membership. Thank you, Donnee, for all you’ve done (and continue to do), and thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate.
When it came to the golf, we saw some outstanding play across the board — with a few clutch birdies and eagles down the stretch that made for a dramatic finish. In the Net Division, it all came down to the final holes before the team of Surf and Turf, Leo Goff & Chuck Roster, sealed the win. And in the Gross Division, with a blistering 7-under-par 65 on Sunday, the dynamic duo of Parski and Clutch, Brad Adams & Calvin Harkless, took home the Gross title in style.
For Men’s Nights, your 5 lowest scoring weeks (or weeks you missed) have been dropped.
For our 1-day, 80-point events (Play It Again, 2-Man Team Shamble, NGC Cup), 1 low points-earned tournament has been dropped with our Closing Day Stableford (11/1) still to be played.
The same applies to our multi-day / major tournaments (Memorial Cup, RW&B, Club Championship) where 1 low has been dropped with the Match Play ongoing and Stearns Cup (10/4-10/5) still to be played.
Drops will continue to be updated through the remainder of this season’s Men’s Nights, the Match Play tournament, and the playing of our final two weekend tournaments. We have a very tight race and an exciting finish to the 2025 Points Chase is in store!
NGC Club Championship Weekend — Thank You to All 🙌
The 2025 Club Championship is in the history books and it’s one to remember with the true spirit of competition and camaraderie all around. Congrats to everyone who teed it up. The vibe this year, especially on Sunday afternoon, was the best it’s been in recent memory and the impromptu feast to close out the weekend was exactly what NGC and our golf family are all about.
Huge thanks to the NGC staff and maintenance crew for their hard work on the course and smooth operations all weekend — your work and care made the difference. Special thanks to Donnee, Terry, Ryan, Meilani, Tiffany, Mimi, and Germame for their dedication and support — This weekend was a reminder of everything we love about NGC and pointed to an even better future!
🏆 Club Championship Results
In the Women’s Club Championship, a new and very deserving champion, Sandra Mosely, was crowned and Vivianne Couts took home the net division victory. Well played ladies! And, once again, the NGC women were battle of the sexes pace-of-play grand champions!
In the Gold Tee flight, Paul Weidenfeld put on a dominant performance with a closing round of 76 to take home the gross division championship and, on the net side, with very solid golf all weekend Jack Sullivan locked up the win. Great playing and well done to our Gold Tee champions.
In the White Tee flight, it was an epic battle down to the final holes to determine who would take home the gross and net titles. In the end, with a stellar closing stretch, Matt Dove became a back-to-back White Tee Club Champion taking home the gross division win and, with continued excellent play that we have seen all of 2025, Chuck Roster won the net competition. Congrats gents!
Finally, the battle for the Championship Blue Tee flight was one to remember with many twists, lots of turns, and key birdies along the way. Outstanding second rounds by both Calvin Harkless and Jim Sussmann made the competition extremely exciting through the closing stretch of holes. When all was said and done, with rock solid play all day on Sunday and a pair of matching 75s for the weekend, Jared Powell hit the tough shots and poured in the clutch putts when it mattered to capture his second NGC Club Championship title. Very well played to our very deserving champion, Mr. Jared Powell — enjoy your parking spot sir!
A few sprinkles yesterday couldn’t stop 13 players from coming out to climb the Tee Ladder and collect some Stableford points on the Back 9. When all was said and done, with a barrage of birdies, Matt Doherty and James Hsiao stood atop the Net and Gross leaderboards respectively. Well played gents!
17 players came out last Thursday for a Stableford battle on the Back 9. When all the points had been tallied, two men rose to the top of the leaderboard with 20 Stableford points each. Well played to Sam Bowmer and Chuck Roster on the shared 1st place honors!
Our 2025 edition of the NGC Cup was played over the weekend and we had an awesome day of competition and camaraderie. Thank you to all our MGA members who came out and to the NGC staff who made the day great. Thank you to Joe and Alisha for the musical vibes and to all those who stayed around for the bonus golf and the NGC tradition unlike any other, the E9!
In the end, Team Blue put on an outstanding overall performance and captured the victory. Well played to Team Blue on a day that showed what NGC is truly all about for all of us.
