Men’s Night 6/2 — Best Ball with Bailey Competition Rules

Men’s Night 6/2 — Best Ball with Bailey on the Back 9

For Men’s Night this week, to celebrate Bailey’s opening round at the 2022 Women’s US Open and to have some fun, we’ll be playing a Best Ball “team” round with her Back 9 score at Pine Needles on Thursday.

Bailey was featured in the Washington Post today!

For each hole on the Back 9 at NGC this week, you and Bailey will be partners. Whichever is better, your net score on a hole or Bailey’s score on the same Back 9 hole (relative to par) during her 1st round at Pine Needles, will be your team score. Low with-Bailey best ball total score for the Back 9 wins.

7:48 AM tee time tomorrow. Go Bailey!

Competition Rules for Men’s Night 6/2

  • For this week, all Men’s Night competitors play the Back 9 using 100% of their Back 9 course handicaps.
  • Men’s Night rounds may be played at any time on Thursday with an accompanying MGA member. Please check in with the Pro Shop before you tee off. For this week, all players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (Age + Handicap >= 75) may play golds.
  • With the possibility of rain in the forecast, an overall assessment of course playability / availability throughout the day will be used to determine if there has been enough time for Men’s Night play to count submitted scores for an official result.
  • We will be playing lift, clean and place in your own fairway, one club-length, no closer to the hole. Additionally, all bunkers will be played as Ground Under Repair. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you may either play your ball as it lies (rake and place) or take free relief. To take relief, you must find the nearest point of complete relief outside the bunker and play from within one club-length of that point, no closer to the hole.
  • Balls marked on the green may be replaced to the side of any aeration holes, no closer to the hole.
  • All recently seeded and re-sodded areas, drain trenches and exposed rocks added as topper for drainage systems should be considered Ground Under Repair from which free relief may be taken, no closer to the hole. Additionally, tire tracks and bare areas immediately adjacent to cart paths should be considered Ground Under Repair.
  • Tall grass and unmaintained sections of the course may be played as penalty areas. These areas include: the hill between the cart paths for the 4th and 5th holes, right of the 7th hole fairway, surrounding the back and left of the 11th green, right of the 13th fairway and surrounding the 13th green, right of the cart path on the 14th hole, on the hill between the 14th and 16th holes, right of the 15th hole and surrounding the 15th green. In the case you do not find your ball in these areas, follow the standard red penalty area dropping procedure.
  • Any player who does not meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting policy or has not submitted a written appeal for exemption prior to play to [email protected] if they are unable to meet the requirement, will automatically play as a 0 handicap for Men’s Night.
  • This week’s format allows for the completion of a 9-hole round that is valid for handicap posting purposes. Men’s Night scores must be posted promptly to your handicap account. Any player who places but has not posted will have their score disqualified from payout and placement consideration.

Men’s Night 6/2 — Best Ball with Bailey on the Back 9

We hope that everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!

For Men’s Night this week, to celebrate Bailey’s opening round at the 2022 Women’s US Open and to have some fun, we’ll be playing a Best Ball “team” round with her Back 9 score at Pine Needles on Thursday.

For each hole on the Back 9 at NGC this week, you and Bailey will be partners. Low with-Bailey best ball total score for the Back 9 wins.

Thank you again to all those who contributed to the Go Bailey fund! We were able to deliver the collection to her father which will help cover the costs of lodging which was facilitated in large part thanks to MGA member Will Keyes and our former pro Ed Collins set up Bailey with a Pine Needles local caddy who currently caddies on a professional women’s tour in Florida.

7:48 AM tee time on Thursday. Go Bailey!
