Masters Men’s Night 4/11 — Beat Tiger’s Back (9) at Augusta
For each hole on the Back 9 this week, you’ll compare your net score to Tiger’s on his live Back 9 for Round 1 at the Masters. Using net scores relative to par, each time you tie him, you’ll earn 1 point. Each hole you beat him you’ll earn 2 points. When Tiger’s score (relative to par) is better than your net score on a hole, you get 0 points.
*If for any reason Tiger does not complete the Back 9 holes at Augusta for his first round, we’ll use defending champion Jon Rahm’s Back 9 score.
Side-Contests for Masters Men’s Night: Drive, Skip & Putt
Before, after, or during your Men’s Night round, the following side-contests will be set up and all Men’s Night participants are encouraged to partake! Signage and markers for the side-contests will be in place by noon on Thursday.
Drive: On #11 — longest drive in the fairway wins.
Skip: Across #12 pond — 3 chances per Men’s Night participant, closest to the pin wins. Bring some extra shag balls!
Putt: Long putt on the putting green — best of 3 chances. Who can make a 40 footer?
To really ramp up the excitement, our very own Masters insider, Mr. Matt Doherty, has graciously donated 4 Masters ball markers that will be awarded to the side-contests winners in addition to credit book. Thank you Mr. Doherty!

1st Men’s Night 4/4 Results — Stableford + Skins Front 9
26 players took to the Front 9 yesterday to get the 2024 MGA season started with a Stableford battle. Despite a brief burst of snow/sleet/hail, a great time was had by all and we’d especially like to acknowledge all our new MGA members who came out. It’s absolutely fantastic to see the growth of our membership with Tiffany’s help!
As for the results, when all was said and done, one man reigned supreme collecting a very impressive Stableford tally. With 25 points, well played Bruce Sedlak and congrats on taking the 1st Men’s Night W of the new season!
For our gross/net skins game, we had 5 skins hold up, 4 gross and 1 net. Well done to our skins winners! Credit book payouts will be applied next week.
1st Men’s Night of the 2024 Season — Stableford Front 9
We have officially made it to the eve of the 2024 MGA season. For our 1st Men’s Night tomorrow, we’ll be playing our Stableford format on the Front 9. In addition to the Stableford competition, we’ll be playing a re-run of our free-to-enter Gross/Net skins game based on all submitted Front 9 Stableford scorecards.
Let’s have some fun and get the season started with some low scores!
Men’s Night Groups
Men’s Night rounds may be played at any time on Thursdays with an accompanying MGA member. Men’s Night groups are formed in an impromptu manner with MGA players who arrive around the same time on Thursdays playing together. Most players play their Men’s Night 9-holes around 3PM but we most often have guys playing throughout the day, including some players going off early and some players playing later in the afternoon / early evening. For tomorrow, several MGA Board members will be around the club and course most of the afternoon to introduce themselves to new MGA members and we can help facilitate groups. We hope to keep the camaraderie going after Men’s Night rounds this season with poker and/or other shenanigans around the clubhouse!
GHIN Handicaps
All Men’s Night play (and MGA tournament play) is with handicaps which means all players will need an active GHIN handicap account. If you do not have a GHIN account, let us know at [email protected] and we’ll help you get one set up with the club. Starting April 15th, we will maintain our 2-in-30 posting requirement for 2024. To compete in MGA net competitions with your GHIN handicap, players must maintain 36-holes of posted scores (either full 18 or 9-hole scores) from NGC in the last 30 days. See the “Season Specific Guidelines” within the MGA Handicap Rules & Procedures.

With all the rain we have received this week, we will be playing LIFT, CLEAN, and PLACE in your OWN FAIRWAY, one club-length, no closer to the hole. All BUNKERS will be played as GROUND UNDER REPAIR. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you may either rake and place within the bunker or take free relief outside the bunker. To take relief, you must find the nearest point of complete relief outside the bunker and DROP from within one club-length of that point, no closer to the hole.
All Holes — Shots that land in play but cannot be found because the ball has plugged may be replaced (by dropping a replacement ball) without penalty at the most likely landing spot as determined by the consensus of the player’s fellow group members. For this rule to apply, you must be virtually certain of your landing location and this landing zone cannot be within one club-length of a penalty area or out of bounds.
Balls marked on the green may be replaced to the side of any aeration holes or “Dollar Spot” fungus/disease, no closer to the hole. Additionally, “Dollar Spot” brown-patch areas on the green larger than 2 feet may be considered Ground Under Repair from which putting-line relief may be taken (as far as necessary), no closer to the hole.
Bare areas larger than one club-length, bare areas immediately adjacent to cart paths, and tire tracks should be considered Ground Under Repair. DROP within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. Additionally, netting in re-sodded areas, drain trenches, and exposed rocks added as topper for drainage systems should be considered Ground Under Repair from which free relief may be taken, no closer to the hole.
Tall grass and unmaintained sections of the course may be played as penalty areas. These areas include: the hill between the cart paths for the 4th and 5th holes, right of the 7th hole fairway, surrounding the back and left of the 11th green, right of the 13th fairway and surrounding the 13th green, right of the cart path on the 14th hole, on the hill between the 14th and 16th holes, right of the 15th hole and surrounding the 15th green. In the case you do not find your ball in these areas, follow the standard red penalty area dropping procedure.
This week’s format allows for the completion of a 9-hole round that is valid for handicap posting purposes. Men’s Night scores must be posted promptly to your handicap account. Any player who places but has not posted will have their score disqualified from placement consideration.
