Men's Golf Association at NGCAll Players Post Their Own Scores to GHIN
For this weekend, we ask that all Memorial Cup participants post their own tournament scores to the GHIN handicap system as “Competition” scores from white tees (and as gold tees for our Rule of 75 players).
All postings will be double checked early next week and corrected if necessary by the club.

Men’s Night Next Week — 5/25 Shootout
A quick reminder that, for next week, we’ll be playing our Shootout format on the Back 9. All players tee off on #10 starting at 4:30 PM. Please be a few minutes early so we can organize everyone’s Back 9 course handicaps and get the festivities started on time!

Sign-ups continue for our 1st MGA Major of the year, the Memorial Cup, which is set to be played Saturday and Sunday, May 20th + 21st with a 9:00 AM shotgun start both days. Please sign up via the online registration portal.
The format for Memorial Cup is 2-day, 36-hole stroke play with both gross and net divisions. To compete in the NET division, all players must meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting requirement.

Cost: $30 — all participants must be MGA members

Men’s Night 5/11 — Chicago Back 9
For Men’s Night this week, we’ll be playing our Chicago format on the Back 9. All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (age + handicap >= 75) may play golds. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop.
Chicago Format:
Players start with a negative number of points (based on 18-hole course handicaps) then add positive points during their round. The idea is to get from the negative to the positive, clearing your “hurdle” by as many points as possible.
0 & 1 handicaps start with -20
2 & 3 start with -19
4 & 5 start with -18
6 & 7 start with -17
8 & 9 start with -16
10 & 11 start with -15
12 & 13 start with -14
14 & 15 start with -13
16 & 17 start with -12
18 & 19 start with -11
20 & 21 start with -10
22 & 23 start with -9
24 & 25 start with -8
26 & 27 start with -7
28 & 29 start with -6
30 & 31 start with -5

Before the round, each player will select 3 clubs + their putter to use exclusively. 100% of Front 9 course handicaps apply, low net score wins. All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (Age + Handicap >= 75) may play golds.
Please clearly identify your chosen 3 clubs + putter to your playing partners before teeing off #1 (4 clubs total with putter as 1 of the 4). Record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop.

All players who do not win their Round 1 match in the Main Bracket will form our secondary Wildcard Bracket which will be drawn after all Round 1 matches have been completed.

Match Play Competition Notes
2023 Match Play is Now Full
We have reached a full field of 64 players for the 2023 Match Play Tournament and registration is now closed — well done everyone who signed up! Because we are now full, the bracket drawing will happen one week early, this Thursday, April 27th. Once the bracket is set by random, blind draw, it will be sent out via email and all participants will have from April 28th through June 11th to complete their 1st round matches. All players will be responsible for scheduling their own match dates and times in coordination with their opponents once the brackets have been drawn.

Senior A-Team
Our Senior A-Team took on Belle Haven yesterday in the elimination round of the WMGA team tournament. Although NGC was unable to advance, we’d like to send out a huge congratulations to our Senior A for advancing to the Final 8. Well played gentlemen!
Men’s Night 4/27 — 1-Man Scramble Back 9
For Men’s Night this week, we’ll be playing our 1-Man Scramble format on the Back 9. For this format, you get 2 shots off the tee and choose the best one, you then get 2 shots from the next position, choose the best, and so on until you have completed the hole.
Please record gross, individual scramble scores on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop. 50% of Back 9 course handicaps apply to calculate net scores — low net score wins.

2023 MGA Match Play Tournament
Sign-ups continue for our season-long, NCAA-bracket-style, 2023 MGA Match Play Tournament and, with 60 players currently signed up, only 4 spots remain open!
The cost to participate is $30 and the bracket will be set via a random draw on Thursday, May 4th. The field will be limited to the first 64 entrants so please sign up ASAP using the online registration portal. All players will be responsible for scheduling their own match dates and times in coordination with their opponents once the brackets have been drawn.
All participants will need valid handicaps that are active within the GHIN handicap system. Additionally, prior to the start of any given match, competitors must meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting requirement. If a participant does not meet this requirement on the date of a scheduled match, the player who has not posted two 18-hole or combined rounds in the last 30 days will play as scratch (0 handicap) for that day’s match.
