Over the weekend, we had a tremendous day to close out our 2025 MGA season. The weather couldn’t have been better for the first day of November, and we we wrapped things up with a great Member Appreciation Afterparty thanks to the club!
Huge thanks to Mimi, Germame, and the entire NGC staff for making the day special — the food and drinks were outstanding, and the raffle added just the right touch of friendly gambling excitement to the celebration. It’s days like Saturday, and the people who make them special, that mean a great deal to all of us who call NGC home.
On the course, our Stableford showdown brought out some excellent golf and scores across the board. In the end, two players rose to the top — Daryl Stone took home the Net victory, and Sam Bowmer captured the Gross title.
Congrats to both of our Closing Day Stableford Champions, and thanks to everyone who made this such a great way to wrap up another fantastic MGA season!
Attached you’ll find the Groups Sheet with starting holes as well as Tournament Rules Sheet for our MGA Closing Day Stableford tomorrow. We have moved back the starting time so play will begin at 10:00 AM with a shotgun start.
Gross & Net Skins
For any players who would like to buy into the Skins pot (we’ll be playing for both Gross & Net skins), please Venmo $20 to @Weston-Happ (6520) tonight or tomorrow before we tee off.

All tournament scoring will be handled via the NGC App. The app can be found here for iPhone and here for Android. All groups will be pre-loaded into the App and we ask that each group uses the App to track their group’s scores. Leaderboard links for both Gross and Net Stableford scoring:

Men’s Night 10/30 — E9 Team Scramble on the Front 9 @ 4:00 PM
For our final Men’s Night of the 2025 season, we’ll be having some fun and playing our traditional NGC E9 format on the Front 9. For any who have not had an opportunity to participate in an E9 extravaganza in the past, we will all meet on the 1st tee and divide into even scramble teams based on handicaps. We then play as an oversized, full group with each 4-5 man team playing a scramble.
The team with the low scramble score wins!
1st place team = 30 Chase Points, 2nd place team = 25 Chase Points, 3rd place team = 20 Chase Points, etc.
Please be around the putting green by 3:45 PM tomorrow to help facilitate the creation of teams.
If the weather fails to cooperate, we’ll activate the E9 alternate plans protocol for some fun around the clubhouse…
Competition Rules for Men’s Night 10/30
All players meet on the putting green at 3:45 PM and 4-5 man scramble teams will be determined via handicaps
All teams play together under traditional scramble format rules
All players play from a selection of tees throughout the Front 9
Rule of 75 players may play 1 tee box up
Simultaneous shots from scramble groups are allowed and encouraged
Let’s have some fun for our final Men’s Night of 2025!

Men’s Night 10/23 — Tee Ladder with Chicago scoring on the Back 9
For our penultimate Men’s Night of the season this week, we’ll be playing Tee Ladder with Chicago scoring on the Back 9. Here’s how it works:
All players start on the Red Tees for Hole #10. If you make a gross par or better on a hole, you move up the tee ladder for the next hole:
The “tee ladder” progresses from Red Tees → Gold Tees → White Tees → Blue Tees
If you make a gross bogey or worse, you reset and return to the Red Tees for the next hole.
Progression Example:
Make gross bogey on Hole #10 → Remain on Red Tees for Hole #11
Make gross par on Hole #11 → Move to Gold Tees on Hole #12
Make gross par again on Hole #12 → Move to White Tees on Hole #13
Make gross bogey on Hole #13 → Return to Red Tees for Hole #14
Make gross birdie on Hole #14 → Move to Gold Tees on Hole #15
and so on…
Rule of 75 Players (age + handicap index ≥ 75): The highest tee you can reach is the White Tees. Even if you continue making par or better, you will not move back to the Blue Tees. Please mark all cards with “GOLD” next to players using the Gold Tee Rule of 75. Rule of 75 Gold Tee players will use their Gold Tee course handicaps for their starting hurdles.
Scoring:
We’ll be using our Chicago scoring system: Players start with a negative number of points (based on 18-hole White Tee course handicaps) then add positive points during their round. The idea is to get from the negative to the positive, clearing your “hurdle” by as many points as possible.
0 & 1 handicaps start with -20
2 & 3 start with -19
4 & 5 start with -18
6 & 7 start with -17
8 & 9 start with -16
10 & 11 start with -15
12 & 13 start with -14
14 & 15 start with -13
16 & 17 start with -12
18 & 19 start with -11
20 & 21 start with -10
22 & 23 start with -9
24 & 25 start with -8
26 & 27 start with -7
28 & 29 start with -6
30 & 31 start with -5
32 & 33 start with -4
34 & 35 start with -3
36+ start with -2 points
During the round, positive points are added on the following basis using gross hole scores:
Double Bogey or worse = 0 points
Bogey = 1 point
Par = 2 points
Birdie = 4 points
Eagle = 8 points
Albatross = 16 points
Competition Rules for Men’s Night 10/23
For this week, all Men’s Night competitors play the Back 9 using the Tee Ladder format and 100% of their White Tee (or Gold Tee) 18-hole course handicaps converted to Chicago starting points. Points Chase points will be awarded to the top one-third of the field.
Men’s Night rounds may be played at any time on Thursday with an accompanying MGA member. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in completed cards to the Pro Shop.
We will be playing the ball DOWN EVERYWHERE with the exception of bunkers. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you may lift, clean, rake and place within the bunker, one club-length, no closer to the hole.
Balls marked on the green may be replaced to the side of any aeration holes, “Dollar Spot”, dead patches, “Crabgrass” weed patches, and/or fungus/disease, no closer to the hole. Additionally, “Dollar Spot” areas, dead/diseased patches, or “Crabgrass” weed patches on the green may be considered Ground Under Repair from which putting-line relief may be taken, no closer to the hole. The maximum relief distance for putting green relief is one club-length from the current ball position on the green.
Bare areas larger than one club-length in your own fairway (or connected to your own fairway), bare areas immediately adjacent to cart paths, and tire tracks should be considered Ground Under Repair. DROP within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. Additionally, netting in re-sodded areas, drain trenches, and exposed rocks added as topper for drainage systems should be considered Ground Under Repair from which free relief may be taken, no closer to the hole.
Tall grass and unmaintained sections of the course may be played as penalty areas. These areas include: the hill between the cart paths for the 4th and 5th holes, right of the 7th hole fairway, the hill between the 7th and 8th holes, surrounding the back and left of the 11th green, right of the 13th fairway and surrounding the 13th green, right of the cart path on the 14th hole, on the hill between the 14th and 16th holes, right of the 15th hole and surrounding the 15th green. In the case you do not find your ball in these areas, follow the standard red penalty area dropping procedure.
Any player who does not meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting policy or has not submitted a written appeal for exemption prior to play to [email protected] if they are unable to meet the requirement, will automatically play as a 0 handicap for Men’s Night.
