Although the weather looks to be a question, we will still be holding our Champions Dinner get together for all MGA members starting at 4:00 PM tomorrow. We’ll be watching the 1st Round of The Masters, enjoying some hors d’oeuvres, and maybe even playing some poker. We’ll have all the 2021 MGA Champions trophies to hand out so we hope to see you there!
The most anticipated date of the entire golf year is nearly upon us…the 1st Men’s Night of the MGA season!
Match Play vs. Tiger’s Opening 9 at The Masters on 4/7
For our 1st Men’s Night of the 2022 season and in celebration of Tiger teeing it up at The Masters (we hope), we’ll be playing match play vs. Tiger’s opening 9 at Augusta on Thursday, April 7th. For each hole on the Front 9 at NGC this week, you’ll compare your net score to Tiger’s on his Front 9. Each time you tie him, you’ll earn 1 point. Each hole you beat him you’ll earn 2 points. When Tiger’s score (relative to par) is better than your net score on a hole, you get 0 points. Points will be awarded using 100% of individual Front 9 handicaps — Play well!
The example below shows the breakdown of points earned vs. an example Front 9 for Tiger:
In this example, a net par on the 1st hole would earn a tie with Tiger for 1 point. A net par on the 2nd hole would gain you 2 points. And a net bogey on #3 would be worth 0 points. If for any reason Tiger does not complete the Front 9 holes at Augusta on Thursday, we’ll use his opening 9 from his first round in competition at The Masters in 1996.
Ball Skip on #12 — Closest to the Pin
We’ll also be holding an additional side-competition with a Ball Skipping, Closest to the Pin contest which will be setup across the pond on #12. Each Men’s Night competitor may take 2 chances to skip their balls across the lake from the teeing ground we will have set up — closest to the pin wins $50 credit book provided by the MGA.
Our Closest to the pin winner and Men’s Night Top-3 will also receive a Masters ball marker donated graciously by our very own Masters insider, Mr. Matt Doherty. Mr. Doherty can be seen here demonstrating how to perform the #12 skip shot flawlessly.
Men’s Night rounds may be played at any time on Thursdays with an accompanying MGA member, please check in with the Pro Shop beforehand. All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (age + handicap >= 75) may play golds. Record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in completed cards to the Pro Shop.
Champions Dinner after Men’s Night Rounds
And finally, a reminder that we’ll also be serving a Champions Dinner (hors d’oeuvres buffet) from 4:00-7:00 for everyone to enjoy after their Men’s Night rounds. We’ll have all the 2021 MGA Champions trophies to hand out that night so we hope to have a great turn out!

As the weather continues to get warmer, we know that everyone is excited for the season to officially begin. Our 1st Men’s Night is scheduled for Thursday, April 7th and this coincides with the 1st Round of the 2022 Masters.
To celebrate this glorious timing, not only will we be having our traditional Masters themed Men’s Night format, we’ll also be serving a “Champions Dinner” (appetizer buffet) from 4:00-7:00 for everyone to enjoy after their Men’s Night rounds. We’ll have all the 2021 MGA Champions trophies to hand out that night so we hope to have a great turn out!
We’d like to send out a huge thank you to all the members who came out today to help with our Green for the Greens course maintenance and cleanup initiative! As a group, we were able to spread over 125 gallons of sand into divots throughout the course. A special thanks goes out to Leo Goff, Dave Rapp and Ron Turner who skipped playing altogether just to facilitate the efforts — kudos to you gentlemen! Also, a big thank you goes to Chef Lois for her delicious Corned Beef meal and to all the NGC Staff who truly make our home course feel like a home away from home.
We hope the course itself was the biggest winner for today but we also have some credit book prizes to give out!
Closest to the Pins #3 – Jim Prendergast (13’10”) – $30 #6 – Seth Barradas (13’2″) – $30 #15 – Weston Happ (8’7″) – $30 #18 – Andrew Neill (5’3″) – $30
E9 Long Drive on #1 Dave Krukowski (297 yards) – $30
E9 Winners: -9 on the Front 9 Jim Sussmann – $30 Jim Prendergast – $30 Mike Helmer – $30 Weston Happ – $30 Dave Krukowski – $30
Thank you again to everyone who made today a great success and here’s to an awesome 2022 season!
The Green for the Greens maintenance and cleanup initiative is on for today. All MGA and NGC members are invited to wear their green, come out to the course to play some golf, help fill some divots, fix some ball marks, win some prizes, and enjoy some delicious food. Chef Lois’s Corned Beef & Cabbage will be available for all and it’s only $10 for those participating in the cleanup.
Buckets of sand will be provided (we could use a few extra empty buckets if you have a spare) and free carts will be available for those filling divots.
While you golf, if every player could fix 5 ball marks per green, we’d be looking good out there!
The MGA will be giving out credit book prizes for closest to the pins on all par 3s and we’ll get everyone together at 2:30 PM for some E9 (group scramble) fun with a long drive contest to kickoff the festivities!
Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 19th with a Course Maintenance Extravaganza!
With rain in the forecast for Thursday, the Green for the Greens course maintenance has been moved to Saturday, March 19th. We invite all MGA and NGC members to come out to the course this Saturday to play some golf, help fill some divots, fix some ball marks, win some prizes and enjoy some delicious food. Chef Lois has moved her Corned Beef & Cabbage dinner in conjunction and will be available for all on Saturday the 19th.
The MGA will be giving out credit book prizes and we’ll try to get everyone together at 3:00 PM for some E9 (group scramble) fun!
Unfortunately, although we were informed by our departed GM that we were “all set” for Spring A-Team, he did not actually submit the entry form and fee. As a result, the MSGA bracket was drawn without our entry and we will be unable to participate as a club. We hope that this is the final failure in a truly unbelievable reign of incompetence.
Despite this disappointment, we are extremely excited for the new beginning we now have at the club. Let’s have a great 2022 season!
