2025 Match Play Bracket

Gentlemen —

Our 2025 Match Play Main Bracket has been set by random draw and attached here. We have a full 64 player field and, consequently, no Round 1 byes. All players who do not win their Round 1 match in the Main Bracket will form our secondary Wildcard Bracket which will be drawn after all Round 1 matches have been completed.

The deadline for Round 1 matches in the Main Bracket is June 8th. Please be in touch with your Round 1 opponent ASAP about scheduling your match. Contact [email protected] or call the Pro Shop (301) 292-1100 if you need your opponent’s contact information.

Match Play Competition Notes

  • Match scheduling should be determined via direct communication between opponents.
  • Matches are to be played using standard, 18-hole, match play format.
  • All Match Play matches should be played from white tees. Rule of 75 players (age + handicap > 75) may play gold tees.
  • Prior to the start of a match, competitors must meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting requirement. If a participant does not meet this requirement on the date of a scheduled match, the player who has not posted two 18-hole or combined rounds in the last 30 days will play as scratch (0 handicap) for that day’s match.
  • Please check in with the Pro Shop before starting your match so that handicap strokes for the match can be determined and finalized.

2 spots remain and sign-ups close today at 5PM (or once the field is full) for our season-long, NCAA-bracket-style, 2025 MGA Match Play Tournament. The cost to participate is $30 and the bracket will be set via a random draw on Thursday, April 24th. The field will be limited to the first 64 entrants so please sign up ASAP using the online registration portal. All players will be responsible for scheduling their own match dates and times in coordination with their opponents once the brackets have been drawn.

All participants will need valid handicaps that are active within the GHIN handicap system. Additionally, prior to the start of any given match, competitors must meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting requirement. Men’s Night 4/24 — Stableford Back 9

For Men’s Night this week, we’ll be playing our Stableford format on the Back 9. Points will be awarded based on the standard Stableford scoring breakdown using 100% of individual Back 9 handicaps.

  • Net Double Bogey or higher: 0 points
  • Net Bogey: 1 point
  • Net Par: 2 points
  • Net Birdie: 3 points
  • Net Eagle: 4 points, and so on.

All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (age + handicap >= 75) may play golds. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in completed cards to the Pro Shop. There is no entry fee for Men’s Night. Points Chase points will be awarded to the top one-third of the field for Stableford placement.

Competition Rules for Men’s Night 4/24

  • For this week, all Men’s Night competitors play the Back 9 using 100% of their Back 9 course handicaps. Points Chase points will be awarded to the top one-third of the field.
  • Men’s Night rounds may be played at any time on Thursday with an accompanying MGA member. All players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (age + handicap >= 75) may play golds. Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in completed cards to the Pro Shop.
  • We will be playing LIFT, CLEAN, and PLACE in your OWN FAIRWAY, one club-length, no closer to the hole. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you may lift, clean, rake and place within the bunker, one club-length, no closer to the hole.
  • Balls marked on the green may be replaced to the side of any “Dollar Spot”, dead patches, “Crabgrass” weed patches, and/or fungus/disease, no closer to the hole. Additionally, “Dollar Spot” areas, dead/diseased patches, or “Crabgrass” weed patches on the green may be considered Ground Under Repair from which putting-line relief may be taken (as far as necessary), no closer to the hole.
  • Bare areas larger than one club-length, bare areas immediately adjacent to cart paths, and tire tracks should be considered Ground Under Repair. DROP within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. Additionally, netting in re-sodded areas, drain trenches, and exposed rocks added as topper for drainage systems should be considered Ground Under Repair from which free relief may be taken, no closer to the hole.
  • Tall grass and unmaintained sections of the course may be played as penalty areas. These areas include: the hill between the cart paths for the 4th and 5th holes, right of the 7th hole fairway, the hill between the 7th and 8th holes, surrounding the back and left of the 11th green, right of the 13th fairway and surrounding the 13th green, right of the cart path on the 14th hole, on the hill between the 14th and 16th holes, right of the 15th hole and surrounding the 15th green. In the case you do not find your ball in these areas, follow the standard red penalty area dropping procedure.
  • Any player who does not meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting policy or has not submitted a written appeal for exemption prior to play to [email protected] if they are unable to meet the requirement, will automatically play as a 0 handicap for Men’s Night.
  • This week’s format allows for the completion of a 9-hole round that is valid for handicap posting purposes. Men’s Night scores must be posted promptly to your handicap account. Any player who places but has not posted will have their score disqualified from placement consideration.

⛳️ MGA Play It Again Results

Thank You NGC​ & MGA + Play It Again Results

Our 202​5 edition of the MGA Play It Again tournament is officially in the books and​, overall, it was a tremendous start to our MGA tournament season. A huge thank you goes out to Tiffany, ​Donnee, Pete​ and all the NGC staff who made the day a tremendous success. Also, we’d like to give a big shout-out to all our new members who were competing in their first MGA ​t​ournament. Here’s to a fantastic season of competition and camaraderie to come!

​Out on the course, we saw some great scores and hopefully everyone enjoyed a well executed mulligan or two! In the end, with a stellar ​4-under 6​8 which included a​ tap-in eagle on #1​6, ​E​d Clarke captured victory in the gross division. And, in the net division, ​4​ players ended the day at golf’s magic number, 59, to share the W. Well played Andrew Patton​, Julian Castro, Leo Goff, and Silas Nichols!

​Men’s Night 4/17 Results — Chicago Front 9

34 players came out yesterday on a beautiful afternoon for golf for our largest Men’s Night turnout of the 2025 season. When all was said and done, 4 players were able to surpass their hurdles and reach positive points but only one man stood atop the leaderboard with a stellar +4 Chicago points. With a very Rory-esque round, Jared Powell proved that the power of birdies can outweigh an unexpected double — great playing sir!

Play It Again Tournament: Groups + Rules Sheet

Attached you’ll find the groups + starting holes for tomorrow’s 2025 MGA Play It Again Tournament which will begin with a 9:30 AM shotgun start. Additionally, you’ll find the Tournament Rules Sheet which includes the general MGA Tee locations.

Tournament Scoring

All tournament scoring will be handled via the NGC App. The app can be found here for iPhone and here for Android. All groups will be pre-loaded into the App and we ask that each group uses the App to track their group’s scores.
