Men’s Night 6/1: Choose Your Own Adventure RWB

Men’s Night 6/1 — Choose Your Own Adventure RWB on the Front 9

For Men’s Night this week, to tune up for our RWB Tournament at the end of June, we’ll be playing our Red, White & Blue Tees format on the Front 9 but with a twist. Each player may select their own combination of red, white and blue tees to play as they proceed through their round. Over the course of their Front 9 holes, participants must play 3 holes from reds, 3 holes from whites, and 3 holes from blues. Aside from the 3 of each color stipulation, you may choose any combination of RWB tees you’d like and you do not need to play the same tee choices as your fellow group members. Players may make their tee selections live during their rounds as long as they play 3 holes from each color RWB tee during the 9.

Rule of 75 gold tee players (Age + Handicap >= 75) may select 3 red, 3 gold, and 3 white tee holes to play on the Front 9. (Please note on your card as “gold” next to your name.)

Net scoring will apply with 100% of Front 9 white tee handicaps, low net score wins.

Please record gross scores for all holes on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop.

Men’s Night 5/25 Results — Shootout Back 9

25 players came out for our 1st Shootout of the 2023 season yesterday and #10 showed her teeth as one of the toughest tee shots around (especially with 24 fellow competitors watching!)… All Net 3s advanced and 3 players chipped off with Net 4s to fill the last 2 spots in the top 9 that made it through to #11. Over the next 8 holes, our eventual last man standing made clutch putts and hit the ball into the stratosphere where “there are no trees” to take the well deserved victory. Congrats and well played to the 1st Shootout victor of the year, Kyle Armstrong!

Men’s Night 5/25: Shootout Back 9 @ 4:30 PM — Competition Rules

Men’s Night 5/25 — Shootout Back 9 @ 4:30 PM

For Men’s Night this week, the 1st edition of the 2023 Shootout series is here! For our Shootout format on the Back 9, all players meet on the 10th tee at 4:30 PM — please be a few minutes early (around the range / putting green by 4:20 PM) so we can organize everyone’s Back 9 course handicaps.

As a full group (think 25-some), all competitors play #10 together (please mark your ball). The low 9 net scores on #10 progress to the 11th tee. A chip-off will be used to break any ties for who proceeds to #11 (top 9 low net from #10).

On holes 11-18, we eliminate 1 player with the highest net score on each hole: i.e. 9 competitors play #11, 8 competitors play #12…all the the way down to 2 players on the 18th hole. Chip-offs decide tied-for-high-score holes.

The last man standing after #18 has been played is the Shootout winner.

For this week’s Shootout festivities, our special guest Shootout referee is back—current Springfield Golf & Country Club member, 2019 Stearns Cup Champion, former MGA Competition Chair, fantastic match play opponent, and all-around great guy—Mr. Mike Lyons. Mike will handle all handicap calculations, rulings, and chip-off decisions for elimination.

Competition Rules for Men’s Night 5/25

  • For this week, all Men’s Night competitors start play on the Back 9 teeing off #10 at 4:30 PM using 100% of their Back 9 course handicaps. There is no entry fee for Men’s Night this week and only Points Chase points will be awarded to the top one third of the field. Please be a few minutes early and around the range / putting green by 4:20 PM.
  • For the Shootout, all players play from white tees and Rule of 75 players (Age + Handicap >= 75) may play golds.
  • We will be playing the ball DOWN EVERYWHERE and RAKE and PLACE for all bunkers. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you may lift, clean, rake and place within the bunker taking as much relief as necessary to place your ball on a playable bit of sand, no closer to the hole.
  • Balls marked on the green may be replaced to the side of any aeration holes or “Dollar Spot” fungus/disease, no closer to the hole.
  • “Dollar Spot” brown-patch areas on the green larger than 2 feet may be considered Ground Under Repair from which putting-line relief may be taken (as far as necessary), no closer to the hole.
  • Netting in re-sodded areas, drain trenches, and exposed rocks added as topper for drainage systems should be considered Ground Under Repair from which free relief may be taken, no closer to the hole. Additionally, tire tracks, bare areas immediately adjacent to cart paths, and bare areas larger than a club length should be considered Ground Under RepairDROP within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole.
  • Any player who does not meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting policy or has not submitted a written appeal for exemption prior to play to [email protected] if they are unable to meet the requirement, will automatically play as a 0 handicap for Men’s Night.
