The Masters + MGA + A-Team = A Great Week
With Scottie slipping on the Green Jacket last night, one of the best golf weeks of the year is in the books. We’d like to, once again, say thank you to all our MGA members who came out on Thursday for our Masters Men’s Night and Champions Dinner as well as to all the MGAers who took part in the spring A-Team matches. On Saturday, the NGC A-Team took to the links both home and away to battle Turf Valley (and the wind!) in the second round of the MSGA State Team Championship. In the end, NGC did not advance out of the round of 32 but collected 6.5 hard fought points. Having proven that we have a lineup that can win matches, we’re very excited for what the summer WMGA A-Team Matches have in store! Look for the next round of A-Team qualifying starting in June.
Men’s Night 4/18 — 1-Man Scramble Front 9
To have some fun and get a bit of a warmup for our Play It Again format on Saturday, we’ll be playing our 1-Man Scramble format on the Front 9. For this format, you get 2 shots off the tee and choose the best one, you then get 2 shots from the next position, choose the best, and so on until you have completed the hole.
Please record gross, individual scramble scores on scorecards with names clearly marked and turn in all completed cards to the Pro Shop. 50% of Front 9 course handicaps apply to calculate net scores — low net score wins.
Play It Again Sign-Ups close Thursday @ 8PM
Sign-ups close in three days for our first MGA weekend event of the season, the 2024 Play It Again Tournament, which will be played Saturday, April 20th with a 9:30 AM shotgun start. All weekend MGA tournaments are open to full and weekday NGC members who have paid their $85 MGA dues for the year.
For this tournament, each player’s handicap is used to determine how many mulligans will be allotted during their round. Using their allotted mulligans, each player records their best possible gross score. Net scores will also be calculated by the scoring app for a Net Division. The Rule of 75 (Age + Handicap >= 75) applies for gold tee players. Please sign up using the online registration link.
All participants must meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting policy.
To confirm your sign-up, double check for your name on the online leaderboard here.

2024 MGA Match Play Tournament
10 sign-up spots remain for our season-long, NCAA-bracket-style, 2024 MGA Match Play Tournament. The cost to participate is $30 and the bracket will be set via a random draw on Thursday, April 25th. The field will be limited to the first 64 entrants so please sign up ASAP using the online registration portal. All players will be responsible for scheduling their own match dates and times in coordination with their opponents once the brackets have been drawn.
All participants will need valid handicaps that are active within the GHIN handicap system. Additionally, prior to the start of any given match, competitors must meet the MGA 2-in-30 handicap posting requirement. If a participant does not meet this requirement on the date of a scheduled match, the player who has not posted two 18-hole or combined rounds in the last 30 days will play as scratch (0 handicap) for that day’s match.

GHIN Handicaps
All Men’s Night play (and MGA tournament play) is with handicaps which means all players will need an active GHIN handicap account. If you do not have a GHIN account, let us know at [email protected] and we’ll help you get one set up with the club. Starting today, April 15th, we will maintain our 2-in-30 posting requirement for 2024. To compete in MGA net competitions with your GHIN handicap, players must maintain 36-holes of posted scores (either full 18 or 9-hole scores) from NGC in the last 30 days. See the “Season Specific Guidelines” within the MGA Handicap Rules & Procedures.
