Another New Year’s Day in the History Books at NGC
The 1st day of the New Year and the 2024 golf season at NGC got off to a fantastic start yesterday with another great edition of the Mike Miller Tournament. In its 12th annual playing as the Mike Miller and with a half century of playings in the history books, the ritual of January 1st golf at NGC is a tradition that we all truly love. Champagne was popped (and used as a tee), cheer (and snowflakes?) filled the air, our shoes got a little wet, and some very good golf was played.
Thank you to all the members, former members, guests, and especially all the NGC staff that made yesterday such a great success. Thank you to Donnee for always being on point with the whistle and to Rahel for documenting all the golf shenanigans. Thank you to Scotty Kimmel for opening the season in style and to Maureen Brady for providing some great NGC history. Thank you to Mimi and all her staff for the great food after the round. And thank you to Tsehaye for embracing the NGC family spirit. We are so excited for what the New Year has in store for the club!
In the Team Net competition, Team 2 — Vivianne Couts, Stephanie Fink, Dave Fink & Naomi Carter — shot a very impressive 53 to capture victory. Well played! And, in the Team Gross competition, it took 3 playoff holes and the team of Clarke’s (likely hungover) Crew — Ed Clarke, Joe Lapan, Scott Redmond & Sam Bowmer — took home the team win just edging out the team off Adam-Andrew-Jared-Ryan.
In the Individual Net competition, Dave Fink carded an impressive 56 to take the win ahead of Kyle VonEnde (60) and Matt Smith (62). And, with 2 players tied after 18 holes at scores of 68 in the Individual Gross battle, Jared Powell took home the victory in a sudden death chip-off beating out Will Keyes.
Congratulations to all our 2024 Mike Miller Champions!
